17 km, an average gradient of 7.4%, a maximum of 10.2, with an elevation gain of 1,260 meters.
This is the toll you have to pay to get to Col du Tourmalet, the most famous cycling mountain pass in the South of France: as mythical as Mont Ventoux, a fixed or almost fixed stage of the Tour de France and for anyone who approaches the Pyrenees by bicycle.
Col du Tourmalet is probably the most famous of the Pyrenean passes.
It has been crossed seventy-five times by the Tour de France and is the highest road pass in the entire chain (2114 meters above sea level).
The construction of the road was begun under Napoleon III.
The ascent has constant slopes, inserted in a beautiful mountain environment where there are also winter tourist resorts.
