Description
Also referred to as "the classic of the northern most southern of Europe", the Strade Bianche takes place annually on the first Saturday of March and has only been part of the UCI World Tour calendar for four years.
This race evokes the magical images of heroic cycling, when the asphalt was still a distant mirage and the riders bent over their bicycles to tackle the long and hard routes on dirt roads.
A recent Italian classic with great charm, so much so that it is considered by enthusiasts the "sixth Monument" after the Milan-Sanremo, the Giro delle Fiandre, the Paris-Roubaix, the Liège-Bastogne-Liège and the Giro di Lombardia.
The route winds its way through the beautiful Tuscan hills, with numerous sectors of dirt roads, the so-called Tuscan “sterri”.
